In short: HIITimer has no user accounts and no sign-in. Your workout settings stay on your iPhone and are never sent to us. The app shows no ads, runs no analytics and sends nothing anywhere — it works entirely offline. The only third party involved at all is Apple, and only if you buy HIITimer Pro. If you choose to let the app save your workouts to Apple Health, they stay in the Health store on your own device — we never see them.
HIITimer is developed and published by Hallvard Fanebust, an individual developer based in Norway. For the purposes of the EU/EEA General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Hallvard Fanebust is the data controller for the limited processing described below.

HIITimer stores the following on your iPhone only. It is never transmitted to us or to anyone else:
This information is held inside the app's own storage area. It is removed when you delete the app. It may be included in a device backup that you yourself make to iCloud or to a computer; such a backup is controlled by you and by Apple, not by us.
HIITimer does not read your location, your contacts, your photos, your microphone or your camera. It requests no such permissions. For health data, see section 3.
HIITimer can save completed workouts to Apple Health. This happens only if you grant the app permission, and you can withdraw that permission at any time in the Health app, under your profile picture, where the apps connected to Health are listed.
What the app writes to Health:
What the app reads from Health: only the workouts it has saved there itself. When you enter a perceived effort score after a workout you ran on Apple Watch, the app looks up that exact workout in Health so the score can be attached to the right one. The app never requests read access to Health, and therefore receives back only what it wrote itself. It does not see your heart rate, your energy burned, your distance, your weight, your sleep or any other health information, and it requests no access to them.
Where it goes: the health data sits in the Health store on your own device. That store is controlled by you and by Apple, not by us. It is never sent to us — we have no server to send it to and no account to attach it to. We store no health data in iCloud, and we never use health or fitness data for advertising, marketing or profiling.
How to delete it: the workouts and effort scores belong to Health and are deleted there, in the Health app. We hold no copy to delete.
If you have the watch app installed, your iPhone and your Apple Watch exchange the following with each other: your saved workout presets, the configuration you last used, your audio cue level, and whether you have bought HIITimer Pro. After a workout run on the watch, the watch sends the workout's configuration, duration and time to the phone, so the report can be shown there and the effort score attached to the right workout.
This exchange goes directly between your two paired devices through Apple's own mechanism for it. None of it passes through us, and none of it leaves your devices.
HIITimer Pro can be bought as a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. All payment handling is performed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment card details, your billing address, or your Apple Account.
The app asks Apple whether the current device is entitled to Pro features, and Apple answers yes or no. Apple additionally provides us with aggregated, anonymised sales and subscription reports which cannot be traced back to an individual buyer.
Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Where GDPR applies, we process no personal data about you at all, and so require no legal basis to do so. Processing connected to a purchase is carried out by Apple and is necessary to perform the contract you enter into (Article 6(1)(b)).
We retain no personal data, so there is nothing on our side to delete. Data held on your device is erased when you delete the app. Retention of purchase records is set by Apple and by the accounting law we are subject to. Health data the app has saved stays in Health on your device until you delete it there yourself.
HIITimer is a general-audience fitness tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Under GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing on our side to request access to. Requests concerning a purchase should be addressed to Apple. We will help you direct a request if you are unsure — write to the address above.
If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully you may complain to your national supervisory authority. In Norway this is Datatilsynet, datatilsynet.no.
Apple is a global company and may process purchase data outside the EEA, including in the United States. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. We initiate no transfers of our own.
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page will be updated and the change described here. Changed 2 September 2026: the app has gained an Apple Watch app and can save workouts to Apple Health. Two new sections have been added — 3 on health data and 4 on Apple Watch — and the remaining sections have been renumbered. Changed 4 August 2026: advertising has been removed from the app, and the sections on Google AdMob, advertising data and consent have therefore been removed in full. Continued use of the app after a change means the updated policy applies.
